Fratii Buzești

“Fratii Buzești” National College (CNFB) ranks among the most representative educational institutions in Craiova taking into account its great number of students and teachers. The highschool was formally established in 1882 and beginning with 1910 the school was attributed the name of “Fratii Buzesti”.

Our school is a renowned educational institution and one of the most valued due to the excellent results at the national exams and school competitions. Every year the college admission grade sets it among the first three most representative national colleges in the country.

Tradition and excellence represent the guiding principles of our school, being a modern, competitive school responsibly connected to the realities of the Romanian and European society. Its goals are to ensure a high standard of education meant to stimulate the individual evolution and to raise the level of instruction to the national and European requirements.

Our school has taken part in numerous projects, based not only on education and the many ways it is done, but also on the people doing it and their motivation.

The school encourages and helps students to take initiatives in making their colleagues, friends and families aware of how important it is to join efforts in gender awareness raising by any means available and that any little and seemingly insignificant effort counts. We do consider that this project would enable us to find suitable solutions to tackle such an issue and would make the first steps towards open education in which the student plays a more significant role.

Didactic staff along with the school administration board are open to change and do their best to be able to perform a more interest- raising educational process. The project teamwork involves teachers and students who understand the need for a change in behaviour of the young generation. The chosen participants will be students capable to act as critical detectives able to do research and cooperate with their teachers to find solutions, implement and disseminate them. In this way the students will manage to identify their research problems and find solutions which will place knowledge in a new context of every day personal life experience.

The teams will be formed after a target group of students aged 15-16 have previously answered a questionnaire which will address the student’s level of creativity and their understanding of the topic. The selected students must be good communicators, able to work together because gender awareness raising intends to change attitudes, behaviours and beliefs that reinforce inequalities between boys and girls. It is therefore crucial to develop awareness-raising methods that generate a favourable space for debate, promote political interest and encourage mobilisation. In this way, they contribute to gaining broad support for implementing gender mainstreaming and gender equality policies.

For over a century, "Frații Buzești" National College (CNFB) has been, and still is, one of the recognized educational paths towards a learning experience designed to facilitate the development of a healthy society, actively promoting the interaction with fellow beings.
