Akdeniz University was founded in 1982, in Antalya on the south coast of Turkey. As a public university, Akdeniz University is capable of making a significant contribution to the world of science with its current complement of 17 Faculties, 7 Institutes, 5 Schools, 13 Vocational Schools, and 39 Research and Application Centres. As an applicant organisation Akdeniz University Faculty of Communication was founded in 2000 at the main campus in Antalya, which is on the southern coast of Turkey. The faculty provides four-year education in four departments; public relations, advertisement, journalism and radio cinema and television. Furthermore, master program in public relations and journalism and PhD program in communication are carried out. In the faculty there are 9 professors, 10 associate professors, 7 assistant professors, 7 lecturers, 11 research assistants, and 12 officers. The faculty mainly aims at educating students both practically and theoretically. Faculty has also workshopped and application units which provide trainings for students besides courses including Uni FM, Web TV, newsroom, public relations agency workshop, advertising agency workshop and public opinion workshop. The students can benefit from these units after course hours. Students in this application units carry out social projects.

The faculty has experience in EU projects and has carried out 4 EU projects on adult education and Leonardo Da Vinci project so far. Furthermore, the faculty of communication has good relationships with the local media which can be benefited for the dissemination activities. Also, the faculty has its own University FM radio, AKUN television and a magazine. The faculty will have responsible for dissemination activities. The faculty can carry out a wide range of awareness raising campaign on carbon footprint. There are also academic staff who can carry out this project in terms of developing intellectual outputs. First of all, as the Project aims to develop video game, in the curriculum of the faculty there are courses on multimedia and video applications. Thus, there are academic staff who can develop videogames and multimedia handbooks.


  • Zuhal Gök Demir is an assistant professor in the department of public relations. She will be the contact person of the Project as she has a great experience EU projects, she has carried out 8 EU projects so far. She will be responsible for the management of the project. Also, she has carried out a national Project on women in media.
  • Kemal Reha Kavas is a professor at the faculty of architecture. His research area is architectural design and ecological design. He will mentor the Project in terms of the content of the video game on carbon footprint.
  • Hacer Mutlu Danacı is an associate professor at the faculty of architecture. Her research area is architectural design and ecological design. She will be responsible for the content of the videogame.
  • Hediye Aydoğan is a research assistant in the department of public relations at the faculty of communication. She will be responsible for media relations and publicity. Furthermore, she will be responsible for dissemination strategy of the Project.
